AAPSE Fellows

Fellows are active members of AAPSE who were nominated by other active members to receive the honor of Fellowship, recommended by the Awards, Fellows and Honorary Membership. Committee, and elected by the Executive Committee because of their meritorious service to AAPSE. Fellow is the highest recognition bestowed by AAPSE. Fellows are nominated because of their superior achievement in research; education; public service; personal achievement; recognition; and service; and have a minimum of 10 years of AAPSE membership. No more than two Fellows shall be selected each year.

Eligibility: Nominees must be active members of AAPSE at the time of their nomination and must have been active members for a total of at least 10 years. The nominee must have made outstanding contributions in an area of specialization within pesticide safety education whether in research, teaching, extension, service, or administration and whether in extension, regulatory, commercial, or private sector. Members of the Awards, Fellows and Honorary Membership Committee and the Executive Committee are not eligible to be nominated or to write supporting letters.

Nomination Process: Nominations may be made by any active member of AAPSE except members of the Awards, Fellows and Honorary Membership Committee and Executive Committee. Obtaining the assistance of the nominee in supplying accurate information is permissible and may make the document more complete.

The Awards, Fellows and Honorary Membership Committee evaluate the nominations and sends its recommended rankings to the AAPSE Executive Committee.

The AAPSE Executive Committee receives the recommendations and makes the selections on behalf of the Board of Directors. Nominations will not be returned to the nominators. Each nominator is encouraged to keep a file copy of the nomination since it may be the basis for submitting a nomination in the following year.

Submission: Nominations must be submitted as e-mail attachments to the Chairperson of the Awards Committee. Only the following formats will be accepted: Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, or Adobe PDF. Each nomination must contain the nomination proper and supporting letters. The nomination package must include:

  1. Name, address, phone number, and e-mail address of nominee.

Preparation of the best nomination possible for a distinguished colleague will assure a fair evaluation by the Awards, Fellows and Honorary Membership Committee. Nomination packages will be retained for two years by AAPSE. Nominators must send a letter of re-nomination to AAPSE by the nomination deadline. Previously submitted documentation will be used for the evaluation process unless the nominator submits new or updated documents. The re-nomination e-mail must contain this additional documentation. New or updated documents must follow the electronic submission requirements.

AAPSE Listserv

Additions: All new members are added to the listserv automatically upon joining AAPSE by the AAPSE Treasurer. The AAPSE Listserv is open to active AAPSE Members only. Members who have let their AAPSE membership lapse will be removed from the listserv within a few months of this lapse.

Changes: It is the member's responsibility to notify the Treasurer of any changes to your e-mail address. Any change in your e-mail address will cause the listserv to reject your posting. All mail will continue to be sent to your old address until the address is corrected. If you are seeking to be removed from the list, you may do so by, again, notifying the AAPSE Treasurer. PLEASE NOTE: The AAPSE Listserv is a closed listserv. Members can not control the listserv by sending commands to the list. All changes to the list are controlled by the AAPSE Treasurer and the List Manager.

Problem Resolution: If you are having problems with the listserv recognizing your e-mail address it is likely caused by a change in your e-mail address. In those cases, please direct your new address change to the AAPSE Treasurer. If this is NOT the case, please contact the AAPSE List Manager (mweaver@vt.edu) for assistance.

Reporting Misuse:The listserv has an established AAPSE Listserv User Policy to control misuse. Please read this policy carefully and if you have a concern associated with possible misuse, please direct your questions to the List Manager.

Sending Mail to the List: Direct your e-mail (from the e-mail address you provided to AAPSE for the listserv and directory) to: aapse@listserv.vt.edu.

Reviewing Mail Sent to the List: The list has an established archive. The archive is stored on the Listserv Server at Virginia Tech -- the link is as follows: http://listserv.vt.edu/archives/aapse.html.
